WHO IS OUR YOUTH PROGRAM FOR?

Our Youth Program is for active kids between the ages of 9 and 17 that could utilize the value of physical and mental self development in their formative years.  Our program, which is run by DeShawn Riley, has been designed to help foster self-discipline and self -awareness in children and adolescents. In class we study and implement the importance of situational awareness, fitness, and culture. The pencak silat studies (Indonesian Javanese; the art of solving problems) is based on the knowledge and practice of an ancient south-east Asian combative system called Satria Fighting Arts.

BUILDING FOUNDATIONS EARLY

We believe building foundations, connections, and adding value to our communities starts with the involved youth learning how to navigate these environments in their formative years. Our First goal is to be that foundational setting for our students progressive development in an active lifestyle.

ACTION OVER WORDS

Young people typically learn by observation and influence. Involved youth observing a positive influence in a safe and fitting setting and possibly making something good of the experience in their own lives is our goal. Our Second goal is to practice what we preach. Respect, Courtesy and Integrity are high on our priority of lessons to be taught and we teach them by practicing these actions in our own lives.

SELF DEFENSE

The Fight for Us Youth Program is based in the culture of ancient  Javanese martial arts and modern world situational philosophies and therefore self defense techniques are a major part of this program. In learning these skills students also be taught the importance of  situational awareness, confidence, culture and discipline. Our Third Goal is to teach our students how to defend / handle themselves in a tense situation.

BEYOND THE MAT

The Fight for Us Program knows and understands that life has many facets and options on how a young person can navigate. Our Fourth Goal is to push involved youth to become active in interests like Mentorship, Time management, Health & Wellness, Volunteering, Tutoring, Job Readiness, Scholarships and Youth Support Groups.

Our Final Goal is to encourage our students to learn the importance become a positive influence in their communities while in their formative years . Our program is aiming on building connections and positive foundations that provide value to our communities.
